Recently I met a client who wanted to build a website and promote it. They already had a clear vision, and what they described was not quite how we usually work. With a tight budget I could not commit on the spot. Later I recalled advice from marketers I have interviewed: to dominate a market, own the segment where you are skilled and strong—do not chase what others do or what every client asks for if it is not your expertise. Working outside your strengths wastes time and strains the team. Like people, every business has fans and critics.
